Is Sky Email Being Cut to 15GB?

What changed with Yahoo Mail?

Yahoo has changed the storage allowance for its normal free Yahoo Mail service in the UK. Its current help page says a standard Yahoo Mail account now includes 15GB of free storage.

Yahoo also offers paid storage options where available. Its help page lists larger storage plans and says Yahoo Mail Plus includes 200GB alongside additional premium features.

Why did Sky users think the limit was changing?

The confusion makes sense because Sky Email has been delivered through Yahoo’s platform for more than a decade. Sky says its email service changed to Sky Yahoo Mail in April 2013.

Earlier in 2026, some users received Yahoo messages about the move from 1TB to 15GB and questioned whether the same restriction applied to their Sky addresses. Discussions on Sky’s community forum showed that customers were unsure because Sky and Yahoo accounts use closely related underlying infrastructure.

The important point is that Sky Yahoo Mail is a separately provided service with its own terms and limits. A change to Yahoo’s standard consumer mailbox does not automatically mean Sky’s service receives exactly the same limit.

What does Sky’s own help page say?

Sky’s current legal and privacy information for Sky Yahoo Mail contains a dedicated section headed Sky Yahoo Mail storage limits.

Sky also states that Yahoo monitors accounts for excessive use and may limit the number or size of messages allowed from a mailbox within a given period. That is a usage-control provision, not the same thing as lowering the normal mailbox allowance to 15GB.

The same Sky help page lists a maximum outgoing email message size of 25MB including attachments.

What should Sky email users do?

For most Sky Yahoo Mail users, there is nothing special to do because of Yahoo’s 15GB announcement.

• ✓Do not panic-delete old email: Sky’s service is not currently being reduced to 15GB.
• ✓Check that a warning is actually about your Sky address: users with separate @yahoo.com accounts may receive storage notices that apply to Yahoo Mail rather than Sky Yahoo Mail.
• ✓Keep normal backups of important email: a large mailbox allowance should not be treated as the only copy of important documents or correspondence.
• ✓Watch official Sky guidance: storage policies can change in future, so Sky’s own help pages remain the best place to check the current allowance.

What if you also have a normal Yahoo Mail account?

If you have a separate standard Yahoo Mail account, the situation is different. Yahoo says those free accounts now receive 15GB.

Yahoo warns users who downgrade or approach their storage allowance to keep an eye on usage to avoid service interruptions. If a standard Yahoo mailbox is full, deleting large messages and attachments or moving to a paid storage tier are the practical options.

Could Sky reduce its email storage later?

It is possible for any service provider to change terms or storage allowances in future, so today’s position should not be read as a permanent guarantee.

What we can say on 15 September 2026 is that Sky’s published help information still lists up to 1TB, while Sky has separately clarified that Yahoo’s current 15GB reduction does not apply to Sky Yahoo Mail.

If that changes, Sky would need to communicate the revised terms or limits to affected users. Until then, there is no reason for a Sky Yahoo Mail customer to assume their mailbox has been cut to 15GB simply because a normal Yahoo account has.

The bottom line

Sky Yahoo Mail is not being cut to 15GB. The 15GB limit applies to standard Yahoo Mail accounts in the UK. Sky’s own support information still gives Sky Yahoo Mail users up to 1TB, and Sky has confirmed that Yahoo’s storage reduction does not currently apply to its email service.
