Lumos Acquires ALLO Fiber Network in Joplin, Missouri
Existing ALLO customers stay connected while Lumos prepares a service transition near the end of 2026.
Customers remain on their current service during the transition.
Lumos says the acquired network becomes a base for further local expansion.
Lumos has completed its acquisition of the fiber network built and operated by ALLO Fiber in Joplin, Missouri. The deal transfers an existing local fiber footprint and customer base to Lumos while giving the company a faster platform for expanding fiber coverage across the community.
What Lumos acquired in Joplin
Lumos says it has acquired the fiber network that ALLO built and operated in Joplin. That means this is not simply a plan to construct a new network from zero: Lumos is taking control of existing infrastructure and customer accounts already tied to ALLO’s local operation.
Local reporting says ALLO’s citywide Joplin commitment was worth at least $40 million. Lumos says the acquisition creates a foundation for rapid and widespread expansion of fiber infrastructure across the community.

What happens to existing ALLO customers
The most important message for existing customers is simple: nothing needs to change today. Lumos says ALLO customers should continue using their service as normal while the companies prepare for the account and service transition.
Existing service remains active and customers do not need to make an immediate change.
Customers will receive step-by-step information explaining what to expect and whether any action is required.
Lumos says customer migration is expected near the end of 2026.
Why buying the network could accelerate Lumos in Joplin
Lumos was already working toward its own Joplin fiber expansion before announcing this acquisition. In July, the Joplin City Council advanced a right-of-way agreement that would allow Lumos Fiber of Missouri to install and operate communications infrastructure on city property.
Buying ALLO’s existing network changes the starting point. Instead of relying only on a future greenfield build, Lumos now has an established local network and customers that can sit underneath its wider expansion plans.
New local construction and permitting were already being pursued.

Lumos is now part of a much larger fiber strategy
Lumos is part of the fiber joint venture backed by T-Mobile and EQT. That transaction closed in 2025, with T-Mobile taking a 50% equity interest and becoming the anchor tenant for residential and small-business fiber customers.
At the time of that deal, Lumos operated about 7,500 miles of fiber and passed roughly 475,000 homes. The wider plan is to expand the Lumos platform to around 3.5 million homes by the end of 2028.
ALLO customers are moving to Lumos, and the acquired footprint becomes part of Lumos’ local expansion strategy.
The Lumos platform sits inside a broader effort to grow T-Mobile Fiber Home Internet alongside its wireless broadband business.
What Joplin customers should watch next
The acquisition is complete, but several practical details still need to become clear as Lumos takes over the customer relationship and expands the network.
Existing customers should watch for Lumos communications explaining billing, account access and any equipment or plan changes.
Lumos says the acquisition will support broader expansion, and local reporting says early plans include availability beyond Joplin city limits.
The acquisition announcement does not yet provide a complete Joplin price list or explain exactly how every ALLO package will map to Lumos service.
Lumos has bought ALLO’s Joplin fiber network. Existing customers do not need to do anything immediately, the migration is expected near the end of 2026, and Lumos says the network will become a base for further fiber expansion.
