01

How to keep your Virgin Media Store purchases

The migration is already open, so there is no reason to wait until November.

Sign in to Virgin Media StoreUse the existing login details connected to the account that contains your purchases.
Select “Transfer to Rakuten TV”Virgin Media says this option starts the migration process. On a TV box, you may also be shown a QR code.
Review and confirm the migrationRakuten TV says you will be asked to confirm the migration details and accept the terms that allow your user data and purchase history to move.
Finish the Rakuten TV account setupIf you do not already have a suitable Rakuten TV account, the process will create one for you.
Open “My Library” in Rakuten TVYour transferred movies and TV programmes should appear there once the process completes.

The transfer is free. Rakuten TV says the migration only takes a few minutes and does not charge customers to move their existing library.

02

Already have a Rakuten TV account?

The email address on the two accounts decides what happens next.

If you already use Rakuten TV, checking the email addresses before starting the transfer is worth doing. It can prevent confusion later when one account appears to have your old watchlist and another contains the migrated Virgin Media purchases.

03

What happens to movies and TV shows you already bought?

The key distinction is between keeping access to what you purchased and continuing to buy through Virgin Media Store.

One detail for individual TV episodes: Rakuten says some migrated shows are not sold in its main Store, so you may not be able to buy extra episodes later to complete the season. The episodes you already bought remain available in your own library.

04

Where can you watch the migrated purchases?

Once transferred, the purchases move into the Rakuten TV ecosystem rather than staying inside Virgin Media Store.

STREAMRakuten TV appCustomers can use the Rakuten TV app for their migrated library.

Rakuten TV says that after migration you can sign in on the Virgin Media box either by scanning the on-screen QR code with your phone or entering your account email and password manually.

05

What if the transfer fails or something is missing?

Rakuten has published specific migration troubleshooting guidance.

TRANSFER CLOSED EARLYCheck your email firstRakuten says migration can continue in the background even if you did not reach the success screen.
EMPTY LIBRARYCheck the correct accountMake sure you are signed in with the email used during migration and look specifically in “My Library”.
MISSING TITLESContact Rakuten TVRakuten asks customers to provide the Virgin Media Store email, missing title names and the device used during migration.

Rakuten’s published support address for migration problems is help@rakuten.tv. Virgin Media also says customers who cannot access their Store account details can call 0800 027 0801.

06

What changes after 1 November?

The Store closure does not mean Virgin TV boxes stop offering movie purchases altogether.

Virgin Media says customers will still be able to buy blockbuster films and new releases on supported Virgin TV boxes, but the transaction will happen through the Rakuten TV app instead of Virgin Media Store.

If you have never bought a film or TV box set through Virgin Media Store, you do not need to migrate anything. The action is specifically for customers with previous purchases.

The bottom line

If you have bought films or TV box sets through Virgin Media Store, transfer them to Rakuten TV now rather than leaving it until the November change. The migration is free, your existing purchases move into Rakuten TV’s “My Library”, and the process is straightforward if the same email address is used. The main thing to watch is account matching: customers with different Virgin Media Store and Rakuten TV email addresses will end up with a separate Rakuten TV account for the migrated library.
