What Is Vodafone TV? New UK TV Service Explained
NETFLIX • HBO MAX • FREELY • 200+ LIVE CHANNELS • 300+ CLOUD GAMES
Vodafone TV is a new internet-based TV and entertainment service launching in the UK from October 2026.
It combines live television, on-demand programmes, Netflix, HBO Max, Freely, cloud gaming, apps and film rentals through a Vodafone Android TV set-top box and companion app.
Pricing is still the main unknown. Vodafone’s live registration page is still asking customers to register their interest and does not show a monthly Vodafone TV price.
What has changed since Vodafone TV was announced?
Vodafone unveiled the service on 3 Sept 2026. Nearly two weeks later, the core launch details remain the same: Vodafone still says it will be available from October, and its live registration page continues to promote Netflix, HBO Max, 200+ live channels and 300+ games.
Vodafone still says the service will become available from October 2026.
The current Vodafone TV registration page continues to advertise more than 200 live channels.
More than 300 games are included, with no traditional console required.
No monthly price yet: as of 16 Sept, Vodafone’s live customer page still shows a registration form rather than published Vodafone TV package prices.
What is Vodafone TV?
Vodafone TV is Vodafone’s new UK entertainment platform. It is built around internet-delivered television rather than a satellite dish or rooftop aerial.
The service is intended to bring live TV, streaming subscriptions, on-demand programmes, gaming, music and apps into one interface. Vodafone says Smart AI search, Google Assistant and personalised recommendations will help users find content across those different services.
Simple version: it is Vodafone’s attempt to put live TV, streaming and gaming into one box instead of making customers jump between separate devices and services.
What is included with Vodafone TV?
Netflix
Vodafone says Netflix Standard with Ads will be included at launch.
HBO Max
HBO Max Standard with Ads is also included. Other HBO Max tiers can be added through Vodafone Subscription+.
Freely
Freely is built in, providing 70+ live channels and on-demand programming from major UK broadcasters over the internet.
Cloud gaming
More than 300 cloud games can be played through the service using a smartphone or compatible Bluetooth controller.
Extra subscriptions
Vodafone says Disney+, YouTube Premium, DAZN, Spotify and Prime can be added through Subscription+ on rolling terms.
Vodafone Box Office
Films can also be rented or purchased directly through Vodafone Box Office.
How many channels does Vodafone TV have?
Vodafone’s current registration page markets the service as having 200+ live channels. Its launch release separately says Freely provides more than 70 live channels and Vodafone TV adds more than 150 further live channels.
A complete channel-by-channel list has not yet been published, so the 200+ figure is the most useful headline number for now.
What Vodafone TV box do you get?
Vodafone TV uses a compact Android TV set-top box, with access to compatible apps through the Google Play Store.
4K and Dolby Vision are supported on compatible content and televisions.
The set-top box has 32GB of storage and 3GB of RAM.
Dolby Atmos is supported on compatible programmes and audio equipment.
The box also supports personalised profiles, AI-assisted voice search and parental controls secured with a Master PIN.
Does Vodafone TV need an aerial or satellite dish?
No. Vodafone says Vodafone TV works without a satellite dish or television aerial. Live television is delivered over the internet, including through Freely.
That makes it especially relevant to homes using full fibre or 5G broadband where an old aerial is missing, unreliable or simply no longer used.
Who can get Vodafone TV?
Vodafone says the service will be available from October to new and existing Vodafone customers with a home broadband, 5G Broadband or mobile plan.
Home broadband
Vodafone fixed-broadband customers are included in the announced eligibility.
5G Broadband
Vodafone’s mobile-broadband home internet customers are also included.
Mobile
Vodafone says eligible mobile customers can take Vodafone TV even without fixed home broadband.
How much will Vodafone TV cost?
Vodafone has still not put a monthly Vodafone TV price on its live registration page. The page currently asks customers to register their interest ahead of availability.
That means it is still too early to make a meaningful value comparison against Sky, EE TV or Virgin Media. The eventual price will need to be judged alongside the included Netflix and HBO Max tiers, contract length, hardware terms and any introductory bundle offers.
Current status: launch window confirmed, features confirmed, price still waiting.
Is Vodafone TV the same as Vodafone Xtra with Apple TV?
No. Vodafone still sells Xtra broadband deals that include an Apple TV 4K and a three-month Apple TV subscription. Vodafone TV is a separate Vodafone-branded platform using its own Android TV box.
| Feature | Vodafone Xtra | Vodafone TV |
|---|---|---|
| Main hardware | Apple TV 4K | Vodafone Android TV box |
| Live TV platform | Not the main proposition | 200+ live channels |
| Netflix/HBO Max included | Not the standard core offer | Included tiers announced |
| Cloud gaming | Not the core proposition | 300+ games |
| Vodafone TV price | Existing Xtra pricing applies | Not published yet |
Can you watch Vodafone TV away from home?
Vodafone says a companion app will mirror profiles, recommendations, favourites and gameplay across devices. On selected content, viewers will be able to start a programme at home and continue watching while away.
Vodafone TV can also be paired with Vodafone SuperMobile, but SuperMobile is a separate mobile plan rather than a requirement for the TV service.
