Cuckoo Broadband Sold to Onestream: What Customers Need to Know
CUSTOMER UPDATE: JUNE 2026
LATEST UPDATE: CUCKOO IS NOW RUN BY ONESTREAM
Cuckoo Broadband has a new operator, but the Cuckoo brand is still active. The current customer update says Onestream Limited now runs the service behind the scenes, while current Cuckoo policies identify the provider as Onestream Limited trading as Cuckoo Broadband.
For existing customers, the official message is straightforward: same contract, same package, same broadband speed and same agreed price. The underlying broadband network, router and Wi-Fi settings also stay the same, and no engineer visit is needed solely because of the transfer.
The main practical changes are administrative. Your Cuckoo account number changes, bills move to a standard monthly cycle, invoices are produced 14 days before collection, and Direct Debits are collected on the last working day of each month.
THE PRECISE ANSWER: WAS CUCKOO BROADBAND SOLD TO ONESTREAM?
“Cuckoo Broadband sold to Onestream” is the phrase many customers search for, but the transaction was more specific than a simple purchase of the whole company. Onestream acquired Cuckoo’s broadband customer base, customer contracts, brand and domain through a strategic agreement with AllPoints Fibre Networks (APFN).
Customer connections remain on APFN’s aquila wholesale platform. This is why the company managing the customer account can change without forcing every household onto a different physical broadband network.

WHAT DID ONESTREAM ACQUIRE?
The Onestream Cuckoo acquisition covered the parts of the retail broadband operation that customers interact with. Public reporting on the agreement says the following transferred to Onestream:
- Cuckoo’s broadband customer base
- Existing customer contracts
- The Cuckoo Broadband brand
- The Cuckoo domain
Onestream did not need to move every Cuckoo line onto a new access network. Connections remain on aquila, APFN’s wholesale platform, which can provide access to infrastructure from Openreach, CityFibre and APFN assets depending on the customer’s address and service.
The agreement also took Onestream to about 150,000 broadband connections at the time it was announced. That figure describes Onestream’s enlarged customer base, not the number of customers transferred from Cuckoo.
WHAT STAYS THE SAME FOR CUCKOO CUSTOMERS?
The official Cuckoo Onestream update confirms that the customer transfer does not require a technical broadband migration. This is stronger and clearer than the original announcement, which could only describe what was expected to happen.
| AREA | CURRENT POSITION | WHAT IT MEANS |
|---|---|---|
| Broadband service | Continues without interruption | The account change should not cause your connection to stop. |
| Package and speed | Stay the same | There is no automatic upgrade, downgrade or speed change. |
| Agreed price | Stays the same | A different first invoice can reflect billing alignment rather than a package-price rise. |
| Underlying network | Stays the same | You are not moved to another physical network solely because Onestream took over the account. |
| Router and Wi-Fi | Stay the same | Keep using your existing equipment and Wi-Fi details. |
| Engineer visit | Not required | No installation appointment is needed for the ownership and billing change. |
| MyAccount login | Same login route | Customers can continue signing in in the same way. |
If your broadband performance changes, troubleshoot it as a normal service issue rather than assuming the acquisition caused a network switch. Households considering an alternative can compare UK broadband deals by postcode or compare fibre broadband deals.
CUCKOO BILLING, ACCOUNT NUMBER AND DIRECT DEBIT CHANGES
The most noticeable part of the Cuckoo transfer to Onestream is the billing migration. Your underlying broadband does not move, but the account is aligned with Onestream’s standard billing system.
| CHANGE | CONFIRMED DETAIL | CUSTOMER ACTION |
|---|---|---|
| Account number | Your Cuckoo account number changes. | Use the new number when contacting support. |
| Billing period | Accounts are aligned to a standard monthly cycle. | Check the service dates shown on the first new invoice. |
| Invoice date | Invoices are generated 14 days before collection. | Review the invoice in MyAccount before payment is taken. |
| Direct Debit date | Payment is collected on the last working day of the month. | Make sure funds are available on the new date. |
| First bill | It may be higher because of a one-off billing-cycle adjustment. | Check the covered dates before treating it as a price rise. |
| Payment reference | The reference may change on the new billing system. | Match the amount and invoice rather than relying only on the old reference. |
| Direct Debit mandate | It remains active and protected by the Direct Debit Guarantee. | Do not cancel it unless Cuckoo tells you to. |
A larger first payment does not necessarily mean your Cuckoo Broadband price has increased. Cuckoo says the adjustment aligns the old and new billing periods and does not make you pay more over the contract. Contact support promptly if the dates, package price or adjustments do not make sense.
DOES THE ONESTREAM TAKEOVER CHANGE YOUR CONTRACT?
Cuckoo says customers do not need to sign a new agreement. The existing broadband contract and renewal date continue unless the provider specifically advises otherwise. The acquisition itself does not automatically end your minimum term or remove early termination charges.
IF YOU ARE STILL IN YOUR MINIMUM TERM
Continue checking the terms in your order confirmation and contract summary. Moving the account to Onestream does not by itself create a free cancellation right. Our guide to UK broadband contracts, exit fees and price rises explains the points to check.
IF CUCKOO CHANGES YOUR TERMS LATER
Cuckoo’s current terms say that when it makes a contractual change that is not exclusively beneficial—outside the exceptions stated in those terms—it will give 30 days’ notice and allow cancellation without an early release fee during that notice period. Read the actual notice before acting, because the right depends on the type of change.
IF YOU ARE OUT OF CONTRACT
You can compare renewal terms with other providers available at your address. Check the monthly price, contract length, setup costs, speed, annual price-rise wording and router before deciding. The best home broadband comparison can help you shortlist alternatives.
DO NOT CANCEL THE DIRECT DEBIT TO FORCE A SWITCH
Cancelling a payment mandate does not cancel the broadband contract. It can instead create missed payments and debt on the account. Use the proper cancellation or switching process and retain the final bill.
CUCKOO SUPPORT, CONTACT DETAILS AND COMPLAINTS
Cuckoo’s current customer policies identify the provider as Onestream Limited trading as Cuckoo Broadband. The listed broadband support details are:
- Phone: 0330 912 9955
- Email: customercare@cuckoo.co
- Account: Continue using the Cuckoo MyAccount login route.
If a normal support request does not resolve the problem, Cuckoo’s complaints code says you can submit a formal complaint to the same email address. It states that unresolved disputes may be taken to CISAS after a deadlock letter or once the complaint has remained unresolved for six weeks.
Keep copies of the migration email, old and new account numbers, invoices, payment references and support conversations. Those records are especially useful for Cuckoo billing complaints or Direct Debit disputes.

CUCKOO ONESTREAM FAQS
HAS CUCKOO BROADBAND BEEN SOLD TO ONESTREAM?
Onestream acquired Cuckoo's broadband customer base, customer contracts, brand and domain through a strategic agreement with APFN. Saying Cuckoo was sold is useful shorthand, but it is more precise to describe the deal as an acquisition of the customer base and key brand assets.
WHO OWNS AND OPERATES CUCKOO BROADBAND NOW?
Current Cuckoo customer pages identify the service as Onestream Limited trading as Cuckoo Broadband. Onestream now runs the Cuckoo service behind the scenes while the Cuckoo name remains in use.
IS CUCKOO BROADBAND CLOSING DOWN?
The Cuckoo broadband brand has not disappeared. Its current website, support pages and legal policies remain live under Onestream Limited trading as Cuckoo Broadband.
WILL MY CUCKOO BROADBAND STOP WORKING?
No interruption is required for the transfer. Cuckoo says the underlying network stays the same and broadband service continues without interruption.
WILL MY CUCKOO BROADBAND SPEED OR PACKAGE CHANGE?
No. Cuckoo's official customer update says the package, broadband speed and agreed price remain the same unless you separately request or agree to a change.
DO I NEED A NEW ROUTER OR AN ENGINEER VISIT?
No. Cuckoo says no engineer visit is needed for this change and your existing router and Wi-Fi settings remain the same.
WILL MY CUCKOO CONTRACT CHANGE?
No new agreement is required. Cuckoo says the existing contract and broadband service continue, and the renewal date and contract terms remain the same unless it specifically tells you otherwise.
WILL MY CUCKOO ACCOUNT NUMBER CHANGE?
Yes. Cuckoo says customers receive a new account number, although the existing contract and service continue. Login access to MyAccount remains available in the same way.
WILL MY CUCKOO MONTHLY PRICE CHANGE?
Cuckoo says the agreed package price stays the same. A first bill can look higher because of a one-off adjustment when the account is aligned to the new billing cycle, rather than because the monthly package price has increased.
WHY HAS MY CUCKOO DIRECT DEBIT DATE CHANGED?
Cuckoo has moved customers to a fixed billing cycle. Direct Debits are collected on the last working day of each month and invoices are generated 14 days beforehand.
SHOULD I CANCEL MY CUCKOO DIRECT DEBIT?
No. Cuckoo says migrated Direct Debits remain active and customers do not need to contact their bank unless Cuckoo contacts them with different instructions.
DO CUCKOO CUSTOMERS NEED TO DO ANYTHING?
No action is normally needed unless Cuckoo contacts you directly. It is sensible to check that your contact details are current and review your first invoice after the billing migration.
CAN I LEAVE CUCKOO WITHOUT EXIT FEES BECAUSE OF THE ONESTREAM ACQUISITION?
The acquisition does not automatically cancel your minimum term or create a penalty-free right to leave. Cuckoo's current terms say that if it later makes a change that is not exclusively beneficial, it will normally give 30 days' notice and a right to cancel without an early release fee.
HOW DO I CONTACT CUCKOO AFTER THE ONESTREAM TAKEOVER?
Cuckoo currently lists 0330 912 9955 and customercare@cuckoo.co for broadband customers. Its complaints code identifies the provider as Onestream Limited trading as Cuckoo Broadband.
